How does Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth work?
Frightening velocity has a way of bringing any fictional criminals — or real-life theme park visitors — to their knees.
The new attraction opening this weekend at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a 91-foot-high pendulum that seats 40 riders around its base and flings them back and forth at 70 mph while also rotating counter-clockwise — and propelling them high into the East Bay skies.
“As guests swing higher and higher, they experience a feeling of weightlessness as they climb 147 feet in the air,” said Nancy Chan, spokeswoman for the Vallejo park.
Of course, in real comic-book life, the superhero uses the golden lasso to corral evil-doers and force them to speak the truth.
Six Flags’ ride, while not affiliated with the upcoming movie, is making a timely debut. “Wonder Woman” the film heads to U.S. theaters next Friday, June 2.
Details: The ride opens to Six Flags season-pass holders on Saturday, May 27 (or to anyone purchasing a commemorative T-shirt), and to the general public on Sunday, May 28, at 1001 Fairgrounds Drive SW, Vallejo. For best deals, buy tickets online at www.sixflags.on/discoverykingdom/.
