SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — A shotgun-toting man who was fatally shot by police earlier this week has been identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office as John Eno, 59, of South San Francisco.
At 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, police received a 911 call from a resident in the 3700 block of Cork Place who made statements to a dispatcher about a disturbance involving a firearm.
Officers who responded were confronted by a man standing in the street armed with a shotgun.
The man ignored commands to drop the firearm, and shots were fired, according to police.
One officer received minor injuries during the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment. As of Friday night, police had not yet revealed whether the man also fired his gun.
A joint investigation is being conducted by the South San Francisco Police Department and the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
