Edison’s late-season surge comes to end when Palm Desert rallies to win

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Palm Desert pitcher Jeremiah Estrada used his bat along with his arm to end the surprising late-season run by Edison’s baseball team.

The Chargers, who entered the game having won seven in a row, jumped out to an early lead Friday, but Estrada slugged a three-run home run in the sixth to lift the Aztecs to a 3-2 victory in a CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinal playoff game at Edison High.

In addition to his homer, Estrada allowed one earned run, three hits, struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter in a complete-game victory.
