Brentwood: Heritage High student cited for gun social media post

BRENTWOOD — A 17-year-old Heritage High student was cited Friday on suspicion he photoshopped an image of a gun with the image of his school in the background, police said Saturday.

The juvenile was cited for disrupting school activities following the 8:30 a.m. Friday incident that started as a prank among friends, but quickly spread on social media, causing concern on the campus, Brentwood police Lt. Walter O’Grodnick said.

“It was reportedly a joke among friends,” O’Grodnick said. “But it spread to others … there was no implied threat, no specifics. No targeting and no mentioning of killing.

“In the end, there was no ill intent,” he said.
