Darting here and there …
–So here we go again. Warriors-Cavs III. It should be a thrilling, historic showdown and this is our only wish: No injuries or suspensions this time, so we get an unquestioned victor in this unprecedented rubber match.
–If it’s a clean fight, we like Warriors in 5. A team that has won 27 of its last 28 and 12 straight in the playoffs is not going to lose 4 of 7, even to a team with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
–Series MVP prediction: Stephen Curry. It’ll be the real Curry this time, not the hobbled version. Believe it, he’s going to be locked in, Dub Nation.
–We like Game 5 because it was the game Draymond Green had to miss last year because of the suspension that tainted the outcome of that series, just as Kevin Love’s absence and Irving’s Game 1 injury the year before put a bit of an asterisk on that one.
–We also like Game 5 because it would mean a Bay Area professional sports team would finally win a championship on its own home grounds, something that hasn’t happened since the 1974 A’s – 43 years ago.
–The ’89 A’s won the World Series at Candlestick, of course, and the ’84 49ers won the Super Bowl XIX at Stanford. Close, but nope, those don’t count. Our space, we make the rules.
–Sorry, the Arena League title the San Jose SaberCats won in 2002 at HP Pavilion doesn’t qualify, either. That’s another rule – the team still has to exist.
–Barring injury, the only things that can undo the Warriors in this series: 1) Allow the Cavs too many…
