Laguna Beach comes out swinging, escapes with win over Trabuco Hills

MISSION VIEJO – The Laguna Beach baseball team didn’t receive any favors in its opening foray into the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.

After winning Division 4 last season, the Breakers were moved up two divisions this season, and following an undefeated league campaign they had to open the playoffs on the road at Sea View League champion Trabuco Hills.

Laguna Beach wasn’t phased by the challenge, grabbing a five-run lead early, then holding on late to defeat the Mustangs, 8-7, in a first-round game Friday at Trabuco Hills High.
