TV picks for Friday, April 21
“Dateline NBC” (9 p.m., NBC): In a two-hour installment called “Troubled Waters: The Laci Peterson Story,” newly unearthed interrogation video of convicted murderer Scott Peterson is featured. Peterson denied knowing where his wife Laci was hours after he first reported her missing in 2004. Retired Modesto Police detective Allen Brocchini tells Keith Morrison that Peterson’s answers during that interrogation immediately raised suspicions. Also: Prosecutor Birgit Fladager speaks about the case for the first time on national TV. Of Peterson, Fladager says, “He doesn’t care about anyone but himself, he can be very smooth. But there’s something underneath the surface that is truly evil.”
“Yukon Men” (9 p.m., Discovery): As the unscripted series returns for its sixth season, a controversial new road connects the isolated village of Tanana to Fairbanks for the first time and villagers must face their greatest threat yet — the outside world. Since its founding, the only way in or out of Tanana was by boat or plane, but all of that is about to change.
“20/20” (10 p.m., ABC): On a special edition of the news magazine, Diane Sawyer catches up with Caitlyn Jenner two years after their groundbreaking exclsuive prime-time interview. The former Olympian discusses how her life has gone since making her gender transition. The installment is timed to Jenner’s memoir, “The Secrets of My Life,” which will be released next week by Grand Central Publishing.
