RIALTO >> Several law enforcement teams, led by Rialto police, converged on several locations in San Bernardino and Riverside counties early Friday as part of an operation targeting a Rialto street gang, officials said.
As of 8 a.m., the teams had made five arrests, according to Rialto police Sgt. Robert Morales. Some of the offenses included illegal firearm possession and probation violations.
“We want to let them know that their gang activity will not be tolerated,” said Morales Friday morning. “We as law enforcement will collaborate and work together to combat gang crime.”
With assistance from Fontana police the Inland Valley and San Bernardino Police SWAT teams, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s and Probation departments and the San Bernardino County Gang Impact Team, investigators served warrants at six locations in various cities including Rialto, San Bernardino and Moreno Valley, officials said.
The operation was led by Gang Investigator Mike Martinez.
The name of the gang was not released, but officials said the criminal organization has a history of shootings, drug activity and illegal firearm possession in the city, Morales said.
Officers pulled several children out of a home on Poplar Street near Meridian Avenue during the operation. No one was injured during the warrant execution.
