Man killed in crash on transition from 60 Freeway to 57 Freeway in Diamond Bar

DIAMOND BAR — A man was killed today in a traffic collision between a heavy-duty Ford truck and a small car on the transition road from the Pomona (60) Freeway to the Orange (57) Freeway in Diamond Bar, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 5:48 a.m. in a carpool lane on the transition from the westbound Pomona Freeway to the southbound Orange Freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Juan Galvan.

The one-mile transition from the Pomona Freeway to the Orange Freeway includes HOV lanes, which were shut down in a SigAlert after the crash, Galvan said. One vehicle was against the center divider. The lanes were reopened at 8:55 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett, who added one vehicle was overturned and one person was taken to a hospital after the crash.
