Fontana man arrested in connection to double-homicide at park

FONTANA >> A man is in custody after police say he shot and killed two men sitting in their car at a Fontana park Wednesday night.

Roberto Colon, 21, of Fontana was arrested Thursday evening near Foothill Boulevard and Banana Street on suspicion of murder, San Bernardino County sheriff’s booking records show.

According to Fontana police officials, Colon shot and killed Victor Hernandez, 22, of Pomona and Robert Ruiz, 22, of Upland Wednesday night at North Heritage Park. Officers found the men in the vehicle in the 1700 block of North Heritage Circle around 9 p.m. after police responded to a shots fired call in the area.

A motive for the shooting was not released.

Colon is being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He is expected to be in court Jan. 3, booking logs indicate.
