Con Brio: The Bay Area band — called by one critic a “party punk version of Sly and the Family Stone” — plays the first gig of its “Two-Nite NYE Bash” with opener Otis McDonald. [9 p.m., Chapel, 777 Valencia St., S.F.]

Greg Proops: The actor and comic, known for his “smartest man” podcast and appearances on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” closes the year with two nights at the Punch Line. [8 and 10 p.m., 444 Battery St., S.F.]

San Francisco Chamber Orchestra: “Mozart in The City” features Robert Schwartz performing Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor on a program with Symphony No. 38 and “Per questa bella mano.” [7:30 p.m., Herbst Theatre, 401 Van Ness Ave., S.F.]

The Ray Charles Project
: Dedicated to the great soul artist’s songbook, the band includes jazz and blues musicians Tony Lindsay, Chris Cain, Glenn Walters, David K. Mathews, DeWayne Pate and Deszon Claiborne.[ 7:30 and 10 p.m., Biscuits and Blues, 401 Mason St., S.F.]

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: Playing the first of two Bay Area gigs (it’s sold out), the psych rock band says “cosmic escapes and disco rhythms speak to developing new vocabulary” on its latest album “Multi-Love.” [9 p.m., Indepdendent, 628 Divisadero St., S.F.]

B-Side Brujas
