Lane Kiffin is too popular with the media for his own good.
Alabama’s team bus reportedly stranded Kiffin for a second time, wheeling away from the Crimson Tide’s media day session before Kiffin could hop on Thursday.
The bus had pulled away by the time Kiffin left the Georgia Dome locker room after interviews ended ahead of the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.
“Yep, got left again,” Kiffin joked, per Low.
Kiffin has had several similar scenes.
While Kiffin was still talking to reporters after Alabama’s 45-40 defeat of Clemson for the national championship last year, the team buses drove away — despite his appeals to officials to stop the buses. He also was fired from USC in 2013 just after the Trojans’ team plane landed following a loss on the road.
“First, I get fired on the tarmac,” Kiffin said, per Low, “and now I get left behind at the national championship.”
This latest incident ended OK for Kiffin, who rode back to the team hotel with a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl official, according to Law.
Since Kiffin will be in charge at Florida Atlantic, he shouldn’t have to worry about this happening again.
