Milpitas: Lady Trojans top Piedmont Hills

In the final home game of 2016, the Milpitas High girls varsity basketball team posted a 43-33 win Friday against Piedmont Hills.

The Lady Trojans (6-3) were led by 16 points and a team-high 14 rebounds from junior center Victoria Iafeta. Sophomore center Skylar Pitre recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two blocks and four steals.

Milpitas was scheduled to start play in the Cupertino High School tournament against Aptos on Tuesday.

Tourney game canceled for boys soccer
With an Oak Grove Tournament match scheduled for Dec. 19 against Summit canceled, the Milpitas High boys varsity soccer will not play again this year.

The Trojans (0-7) are scheduled to open league play on Jan. 3 at Cupertino. Milpitas has yet to score a goal this season.

Girls soccer returns to pitch
Playing for the first time since a Dec. 12 home loss to Kennedy High (Fremont), the Milpitas High girls varsity soccer team is scheduled to play its final game of 2016 today (Dec. 30) at Willow Glen.

The Lady Trojans (1-5) are set to open league play on Jan. 3 at Cupertino.

Wrestlers to hit the mat at Wilcox
Milpitas High wrestlers are scheduled to kick off 2017 with a dual meet at Wilcox (Santa Clara) on Jan. 5.

On Jan. 6, the junior varsity and girls teams are set to participate in tourneys at Cupertino. Varsity wrestlers will compete at the Bianchini Memorial Varsity Tournament at Cupertino on Jan. 7.
