The Matt McGloin era is underway.
Oakland (12-3) closes out the regular season at Denver (8-7) on Sunday hoping its back-up quarterback can lead the team to a win that dictates its path in the playoffs.
While the Broncos were knocked out of the postseason by the Chiefs in Week 16, the AFC West is still on the table. All it would take for the Raiders is a win at Sports Authority Field to capture the division, earn a first-round bye and a home game in the playoffs. The overall No. 1 seed in the AFC is also still on the horizon. In addition to the Raiders winning, Miami would need to beat New England for Oakland to earn home field advantage throughout the postseason.
Bay Area News Group’s Courtney Cronin and Jimmy Durkin break down the quarterback situation in Oakland, including the likelihood of Derek Carr’s return if the Raiders make the Super Bowl, the ins and out of Matt McGloin’s time as a Raider over the last four seasons and the situation he inherits with a team on the brink of the playoffs.
